Walk Notes

I decided for this week to have a change from the "B" walk, which was over Wastwater Screes and to Burnmoor Tarn, as I have done this myself before, I thought to join the "C" party for this Sunday. This was a walk of about 10 miles, from Waberthwaite (we then took a quick visit to Stainton Tower which has always caught my eye from the road below!) and we then walked around the lovely Devoke Water to Birkerthwaite to Boot. The walk was a very pleasant one but could have been cooler, the weather being very warm, humid and still.......there wasn't much of a breeze. Stainton Tower was supposedly used as a sort of light house for the Port at Ravenglass in days gone by and the stone tower sits on the hill at 525 feet (160m) opposite Waberthwaite. Many motorists will see it from the A595 road.
