Walk Notes

After the coach ride to the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel we set off on the track towards Rossett Gill, this track was relatively flat and very easy to walk on although it is rather rocky in places. After about 45 minutes of walking we arrived at the bottom of Rossett Gill, the walk leader advised me that this would be rather a steep climb and told me to take my time with it. After a quick stop for a drink I started the ascent.

When we arrived at the top of Rossett Gill, I had a smile like a Cheshire Cat because I took the ascent with no problems at all, this confirmed to me that I am getting much fitter for this sort of walking again. We then had lunch at the bottom of Allen Crags, I found the view quite a reward. At around 2:00pm we ascended Allen Crags (2575ft / 785m) which was very easy and then walked on to Glaramara. I found the walk to Glaramara quite easy although somewhat annoying in a funny sort of way!  When you thought you had arrived at the summit of Glaramara…….you in fact hadn’t as there are three other “smaller” summits you encounter, the “main” summit is the last one (if you walk from Allen Crags).  At 3:45pm we arrived at the summit of Glaramara (2569ft / 783m) and then started the descent to Seatoller. The days weather had been hot, sticky and rather humid but as we were finishing he clouds started to move in. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this walk and was really happy with myself as I managed better than I thought!
